Oily skin

Shine, enlarged pores and congestion brought back into balance.

Every skin produces oil, or sebum, which keeps skin supple and protected. When the oil glands are overactive, sebum rises through the pores and leaves skin looking shiny and greasy rather than healthy.

Oily skin is more prone to blackheads, enlarged pores and breakouts. The answer is not to strip it, which makes the glands work harder, but to rebalance it.

Common causes

Physical and emotional stress
Stress hormones directly increase sebum production.
Over-washing
Scrubbing and stripping the skin triggers it to produce more oil.
Harsh products
Aggressive soaps and alcohol-based toners damage the skin barrier.
Genetics and hormones
Oil production is strongly influenced by your genes and hormone levels.
